Speaking 2: Leadership moments from history
Nigel has a highly engaging, enthusiastic and entertaining style. He speaks all over the world on two themes: 1) leadership and performance, and 2) leadership moments from history.
Nigel has a lifelong love of history, and of leaders of the past. He draws out modern leadership lessons from interesting and entertaining stories in history. He has written and published two history books about his grandfathers. One based in the Army in World War One and the other in the Royal Air Force in World War Two. In addition he has been fascinated in the leadership of Admiral Nelson, afterwhome he named his social impact business.
Nigel’s performance mentoring might be as a Non-Exec Chair or as a consultant working with the board / top team. Nigel has held 9 board roles as NED, Deputy Chairman, and Chairman, over the last decade. He is a former runner-up in the UK Non Executive Director of the year awards run by the Sunday Times. As independent chairman he blends strong financial discipline and governance, with mentoring and growing emerging management teams. His experience also includes raising capital.

Nigel is the former Chair of the Institute of Directors in Norfolk. His board roles have covered the following sectors: Food manufacture, Online furniture retail, Music manufacturing and retail; Sports retail; Electronics manufacture; Management consultancy; Environmental consultancy; Food retail; and Technology. Many of these businesses have been award winning including, Sunday Times top 100 Fast track, and a top 6 UK manufacturer (Manufacturer magazine). He has spoken on Governance at Oxford University and at the EU in Luxembourg.
